For PARENTS

What Teacher Nanny Services should I choose?

Teacher Nanny Services

This is our bespoke service that combines the bridge between teaching and nannying. General duties of our teacher nanny includes a combination of nanny services and responsibilities as well as a tutor’s responsibilities.  As opposed to a regular nanny who focuses on providing childcare services, a teacher nanny will usually focus their efforts on educating your children. Teacher nannies have two roles as they will also have the vital role of ensuring your children are safe, secure and healthy as they teach them their daily lessons just as any other reliable and responsible caregiver would.

Depending on the hours that you need your teacher nanny, they will allocate mini sessions to support your child with any topic’s in particular they need assistance with, providing relevant resources and information to further their understanding of the topic. The child can take regular breaks and then continue with learning, to ensure they are alert and aware of what they are learning.

After this session, the teacher nanny will then continue with the daily duties of which a nanny will normally do, such as light housework and assisting the child throughout the day.

Duties of a teacher nanny are as follows:

  • Prepares lesson plans and follows plans for your children based on their ability.

  • Assesses and monitors child’s ability to understand the material of the lessons daily.

  • Identify any areas that your child needs to develop and creates interventions based on those areas.

  • Keeps parents informed about your child’s progress and communicates their successes and areas that they will work on for improvement weekly.

You decide the hours that your teacher nanny works but the average is a 2/3 hour day. It is a completely flexible type of childcare and you tailor it to fit in with your family perfectly. Shifts usually begin in the afternoons or evenings, typically when the child is more alert in the day, again this varies by child.

You could expect to pay a qualified, experienced Nanny somewhere between £400 and £600 net per week approx. based on a 2-3 hour day shift pattern.

Shared Nanny/Nanny with own child

Our shared nannies are a great way for your child to gain social skills by integrating with other children. It is also a cheaper option as the childcare cost is shared between two families. However, it is important to communicate to the other family/families that important requirements are met, such as organising holidays, where the nanny is to be based and how the nanny will be paid.

The total cost of a Shared Nanny is likely to be that of a regular nanny, although this cost would be shared by the families involved at an agreed rate.

Here, you may find a nanny will have her own child. This usually works as a bonus as your shared nanny can see things from both the nanny and parent side of things and would treat all children as she would her own. She will have a mothering instinct and will ensure all children are treated fairly and given as much love and care as possible.

It is important to note that if your nanny has a baby, you will need stair gates or cupboard locks. If you have a large family, you will need to be understanding of whether all the children can fit in the nannies car.

Typically the duties of a shared nanny is similar to a part-time nanny however there are some additional points, including:

  • Two families share the nanny all the time, so the nanny cares for both sets of children all the time

  • The nanny looks after one family some of the time and the other family for some of the time

  • The families can divide the time equally, so the nanny goes to one home for half the week, and the other home for the rest of the week.

You decide the hours that your shared nanny works but the average is a 3-4 hour day, and usually is before or after school. It is a completely flexible type of childcare and you tailor it to fit in with your family and you communicate this to the needs of another family of your choice, so its suits both families perfectly. The shared nanny hours can be negotiated after speaking to the other family and prior to meeting the nanny.

You could expect to pay a qualified, experienced shared nanny somewhere between £135 and £180 net per week approx. based on a 3-4 hour day shift pattern.

A private tuition session lasts around an hour and normally takes place in either the student or tutor's home. You could also provide online tutoring. This can be agreed between the parent and tutor prior to the initial session.
